The Make An Impact Podcast

Jan 18, 2021

One great way to make an impact and make an *income*?! Speaking. Becoming a public speaker - even when slow and steady is your method for getting gigs - can be a game changer to those who hear the message that you have, and also for your bank account. This is a great way to add a mutually beneficial income stream that still supports your non-profit or business, and the mission you’re looking to put into the world.

A fellow UW-Oshkosh alumni who started his own non-profit centered on the idea that college students can have fun and be social without drugs and alcohol, has done exactly that. Jake White turned his mission of PARTY.0 from a non-profit in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to a social enterprise, and now to his full-time speaking career. He focuses on the education system to share his programs and is able to make his living while still creating a massive difference in the lives of youth and adolescents everyday.

In this episode, Jake will walk you through the basics to forming your speaking career, how to identify your first keynote theme, and how to market yourself as a speaker. He offers so many invaluable tips and advice to pivoting your career (even if it’s just one portion of it!) into becoming a paid speaker.
